William J. Williams was born at Patterson, Madison county, Iowa, July 14th, 1881. Here he lived until the spring of 1899, when he with his father and mother moved to Kansas, locating at Norcatur, in that state. Two years later, property have been secured in North Superior, the family moved here in 1901. In 1904 Mr. Williams was married to Mary Burns and the next year moved back to Kansas to the farm which remained his home until 1914, when he once more located in Superior, that school advantages might be secured for the two boys.
His death occurred at the hospital in Superior on Monday, Jan. 8, 1917 at 1:30 p.m. There are left to lament his early departure, his wife and two boys: Albert Dale and Leonard Wendall; also his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Williams of South Superior and two sisters and one brother in addition to these immediate relatives are a number of others more remote and many friends who mourn the seemingly untimely removal of one who was loved and respected.
On March 26th - -, Mr. Williams with his wife, united on profession of faith with the First Presbyterian church of Superior. This was an important step, but it was one which he never regretted. Frequently he would express his delight of having taken it and mention the satisfaction it gave him to know that his relations with God were right. Among his last requests was one that the pastor of his church would visit his bedside and conduct devotions with him.
Mr. Williams was a good husband and kind father. He was ever a lover of home. He was a good neighbor, and there are many who while they will lament his untimely taking of, will also retain the memory of a man, who as much as any other, stood for those homely but necessary virtues that sweeten and beautify all of life's relations. The sympathy of the church and community is with Mrs. Williams and her two boys in this irreparable loss of husband and father.
