Rachel Gray was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, Sept. 27, 1846, departed this life Feb. 7, 1917, aged 70 years, 4 months, 11 days. She, with her parents, moved to Martin county, Indiana in the year 1863.
She was married to Howard Sims Dec. 25, 1873. To this union four children were born, three having preceded her to the beyond. The youngest, Franklin, lives at Wingle, Wyo. Of a family of nine children, only one brother, Geo. W., of Osceola, survives; his health not permitting him to leave his home. Her husband was taken from her two years ago. She came over a year ago to make her home with her brother, John, who was called away last January
When young, she gave her life to her Master's service, uniting with the M. E. church. She has faithfully fulfilled her promises, and although her sojourn among us has been brief, she has made many friends here and at her old home, who are and will be grieved to hear of her departure. She leaves many relatives who feel their loss, but know by her testimonials, that she was ready to go and has nothing to fear, but all to gain.
