Mrs. W. T. Smith Passed to Eternal Reward Thursday

She Had Been a Patient Sufferer Many Months

Laura Maudell Arnold, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Arnold, was born on the Arnold farm south of Dexter March 1, 1877. Here she grew to womanhood, attending District No. 9 school in Penn Township.

Laura was always a home girl, preferring to live at home with her parents to outside activities. With the exception of one year spent with relatives in Ohio, her entire life was lived in the vicinity of Dexter.

Laura moved to Dexter with her parents from the old farm home in the spring of 1910. On March 26, 1913, she was united in marriage to William T. Smith, after a friendship of many years.

To this union three children were born: Howard, Harold and Elizabeth, who with their father, mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Smith passed on to her eternal reward May 2, 1935, after a short severe illness. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her twin sister, Mrs. H. A. Schmidt of Menlo; three other sisters, Mrs. Silvester Ward of Kansas, Mrs. Clyde Campbell and Miss Eva Arnold of Dexter; and one brother, John Arnold, of Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Smith had been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years.

Transcriber’s note: The rest of this obituary is missing. Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.
