Lizzie May McCleary, the oldest child of Bert and Kathryn Firkins, was born July 5, 1870, Penn township, Madison county, in the old Lenocker home now occupied by Stanley Nelson. Only three of the Firkin’s family grew to adulthood; one preceded Mrs. McCleary in death, Mrs. Emily B. Cly; and a sister, Mrs. Sopia Watts of Dexter survives. Three other sisters, two brothers and her parents preceded her in death.

In February 1894 she married Lindley McCleary. He died in 1952.

Survivors are her ten children, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and Mrs. Watts.

Funeral services were held for her at Hill and Fredericks Mortuary in Davenport, January 10, 1966.
