Marjorie Caroline Lathrum was born in Madison County, Iowa, on May 14, 1922, the daughter of Charles E. and Martha H. (Webert) Anderson. They were married when Dean was on a short leave from the Navy in 1943. They farmed near East Peru until 1964 when they moved to Colorado Springs, and later Woodland Park, Colo. Dean passed away in 1972. Marge married Sam Lathrum in 1974 and returned to Madison County, living on a farm northeast of Winterset. Marge and Sam enjoyed 21 years of marriage. Following Sam’s death in 1995, she moved into Winterset, where she resided for 12 years. In 2007, health issues dictated that she move back to Colorado in order to be close to her children.
