Shirley Cornelison, Perry

Shirley Cornelison age 84, of Perry, formerly of Minburn, died on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home Irene Barbara Lunde Memorial Chapel in Perry. Visitation will be Monday, February 14, 2011, from 1to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry, IA. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Minburn, IA. Memorials may be given to the Minburn American Legion Auxiliary or Perry Bible Church and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Shirley Ann Cornelison was born on February 3, 1927, at Earlham, IA, to Lloyd and Lois (Ramsey) Barr. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1944. On July 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Darrell Roger Cornelison at Winterset, IA. She worked as an Avon Representative and then at the Minburn Telephone Company as a switch board operator and later as a bookkeeper.

Shirley has always lived in the Minburn and Perry area and was active in the Minburn American Legion Auxiliary and also enjoyed being with her coffee group in Minburn. She loved to sew and made many beautiful garments for family and friends. She was an avid gardener. Shirley had a servant's spirit and was always willing to help out in any way she could. In the last 2 ? years since her husband's death, she enjoyed helping her friends at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, parents, Lloyd and Lois, a brother, Jim Barr and a sister, Phyllis Lucas.

Survivors include her son, Larry Cornelison and his wife, Denise of Minburn, IA; three grandchildren, Ray Cornelison and friend Breta of Adel, IA, Alicia Kennedy of Minburn, IA, and Leah Larson and husband, Aaron of West Des Moines, IA; five great-grandchildren, Macy and Mya Kennedy, and Emma, Eva and Ethan Larson; two sisters, Irma Roach of Norwalk, IA and Elsie Paulin and her husband, Richard of San Diego, CA, and other relatives and friends.
