Page 12Death of Mrs. Margaret Jones
Mrs. Margaret Jones, who has resided in Winterset since 1864, died last Saturday, December 17th, at her home on North First avenue, at the age of 85 years. Mrs. Jones, who was born in Zanesville, Ohio, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Cassiday. She was married to Jefferson Jones in 1861. While he was in the service in the Civil war, she came to this county with her parents. Mr. Jones came here at the close of the war.
Mrs. Jones is survived by three sons and three daughters, Dudley, Dwight, Frank, Myrtle, Mabel and Verdi. She is also survived by a brother.
Funeral services were conducted at Tidrick’s funeral home Tuesday afternoon, December 20, by Rev. A. S. Hueser and Rev. P. M. Fowler, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Jones Succumbs - Had Lived Here Many Years - Funeral Services Tuesday
Mrs. Margaret Cassiday Jones, 86 years old, the mother of Miss Mabel Jones, died at her residence in the north part of Winterset Saturday evening. Mrs. Jones had been bedfast for many months and her death was due to to the infirmities of old age.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from Tidrick's funeral home conducted by the Rev. Arthur Hueser, pastor of the Baptist church of which Mrs. Jones was a member, assisted by Rev. Paul Fowler, Pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
Mrs. Jones came to Winterset with her husband, Jefferson Jones, in 1864 and had lived in Winterset ever since. She was the oldest of a large family of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Cassiday who lived so long just north of the square. L. L. Cassiday, of Des Moines, now survived.
Dwight and Dudley Jones who live in Montana were unable to reach Winterset on account of the deep snows. Another son Frank and two other daughters also survive, Mrs. Myrtle Murphy, of Los Angeles, and Verdie, whose home is in Detroit, Michigan.
