Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Biggs

Mrs. Elizabeth Biggs, an aged resident of Winterset, died Thursday, November 24th, at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Biggs came to this town when she was a girl, and has lived in or near Winterset since that time. In 1860 she was married to Mitchell Robinson, and they lived south of Winterset, on the Peru road. When her husband’s health failed, they moved to Winterset, and Mr. Robinson died here. In 1901 she was married to John W. Biggs, who now survives her. She is also survived by Clarke E. Biggs, to whom she was like a mother.

Mrs. Biggs became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Peru, in 1870. Funeral services were conducted here, and burial was made in the Rock City cemetery.

Elizabeth Cart Biggs

Elizabeth Cart Biggs was born in West Virginia August 31, 1841, and passed away at Winterset Thursday afternoon, November 24, 1927 at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Elizabeth Biggs came to Iowa when a girl and had lived in or near Winterset since girlhood. In March 2, 1860, she was united in marriage with Mitchell Robinson and lived south of town on the Peru road. She moved to town when her husband’s health failed and lived west of the North Ward until Mr. Robinson’s death. In March 29, 1901 Elizabeth Robinson was married to John W. Biggs whom she leaves to mourn her passing. Among others who will miss her are, Clark E. Biggs to whom she was like a mother, and a host of friends.

She was united with the Seventh Day Adventist church at Peru in 1870 and had ever been a devoted and faithful worker in the church.

Interment was made in the family lot at Winterset cemetery.
