Mrs. Jennie Darnall, who has lived in Winterset since 1873, had a stroke of paralysis last week, and died Friday, December 9th, at her home in the southeast part of town. Mrs. Darnall was born in Crawford county, Ohio, and moved to Mahaska county with her parents when she was a child. She was married to James M. Darnall in 1870, and they lived in Lynville until in 1873, when they came to Winterset. To this marriage were born two children, Oren, of Des Moines, and Pearl, of Winterset. Mr. Darnall died sixteen years ago.

Mrs. Darnall was an active member of the Woman’s Relief Corps and she was treasurer of the Woman’s Foreign Missionary society in the Methodist church for twenty-three years. She also took much interest in Sunday school work being teacher of a class for many years.

The deceased became partially paralyzed three years ago but she regained the use of her body, only to have the second stroke last week. She leaves besides her children, one brother, Sidney Quaintance, of Vale, and one granddaughter, Eleanor Darnall, who attends the State University of Iowa.

Rev. A. P. Keast conducted the funeral services at Tidrick’s funeral home, Sunday afternoon, December 11, and burial was made in the local cemetery. The members of the W.R.C. and the W.C.T.U. attended the services in a body.
