Richard C. Frey, 92, of Winterset died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Rev. Jim Howland officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials will be directed to his family for a future designation.
On July 10, 1918, Richard was born at Pitzer, Iowa to George and Clara (Jackson) Frey. He was a 1936 graduate of Earlham High School and on June 11, 1948 married Harriett Maxine Jones at Des Moines, Iowa. Richard was a lifetime resident of Madison County and had farmed his entire life. Richard was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Madison County Pork Producers, former 4-H leader, former elder of the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church, Farm Bureau, and served on the Madison County ASCS Board.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Paul) Bruett of Winterset and Connie (Terry) Leinen of Des Moines; grandchildren, Jayne (John) Stark, Joe Leinen, Judy (David) Bligh, Justine Leinen and Tim Bruett; and great-grandchildren, Ean Stark, Evan Stark and Emma Stark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara (Jackson) Frey; wife, Maxine Frey; brother, Russell Frey; and sisters, Marjorie Frey and Pauline Newton.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
