J. H. Young, son of Samuel and Sarah Young, was born near Peru, April 3, 1871, and departed this life September 11, 1927, at Seattle, Washington, at the age of 56 years, 5 months and 7 days. At his request his body was cremated and his ashes buried in Peru cemetery.

Hoy, as his name will be best remembered by his associates, whose life will remain as a fragrant memory to those who knew him. In 1906 he located in Spokane, Washington, where he dealt in real estate for several years, then moved to Seattle, where he had lived for 12 years.

In 1920 he was united in marriage to Lima Badgrow. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, one son, Russell, two adopted daughters, Lillian and Violet; three brothers and four sisters: Walt Young of Des Moines; Dick, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Frank, of Porcatur, Kansas; Caroline Lake, of Orient; Permelia Osborn, of Winterset, and Mrs. Will Baker, of Peru.

Owing to the elaborate funeral service given him by the Masonic Order at Seattle, to which he was a member, short funeral services were held at the cemetery conducted by Rev. Cottingham, of the M.E. church of Peru.
