Death of Mrs. M. W. Smith

Mrs. M. W. Smith of Lorimor died last Friday morning, July 8th, at the Winterset hospital, following a short illness. She had not been well, and went to the local hospital for treatment for bowel trouble. An operation was performed last Thursday, and it was thought that she was progressing nicely, but her condition became worse in the middle of the night and she died shortly afterwards.

She was a daughter of Mrs. Rebecca Cross of Winterset. She was born near Ira, in Jasper county, November 15th, 1886, and came to Madison county in 1909. In 1917 she was married to M. W. Smith, and they have been making their home in Lorimor.

Funeral services were conducted at the Cross home, on Second avenue, Sunday, July 10th, by Rev. D. J. Shenton, at 10 a.m. and burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and two children, her mother, and six sisters. More details of her life may be found in the obituary on page four.
