Former Winterset Man Ends Life, Domestic Affairs Thought to Be the Cause
Chas. C. Rhodes, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Rhodes of Winterset, ended his life at his home in East Des Moines Sunday night, by pillowing his head in a gas oven and turning on the gas. His body was discovered by his wife on Monday morning.
For the past two months, Rhodes had been employed here by Benge & Robinson in the plumbing business and had signified his intention of moving his family here as soon as he could rent a house.
He had been married twice and divorced from his first wife. His domestic affairs are believed to be the cause of his despondency. He leaves several small children.
