Death of Chas. N. Osborn

Chas. Osborn, for 60 years a resident of Walnut township, died at his home near Peru on Tuesday of this week.

He was taken ill on Friday of last week but his illness was not thought to be serious until some days later when the illness developed into pneumonia and members of his family were summoned.

Mr. Osborn is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters.

Burial services were held this afternoon at the Methodist church in Peru and burial made in the Peru cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Cook of the Church of God, near Barney, and Rev. Cottingham of Peru.

Charles Osborn, son of Jed and Harriet Osborn, was born March 20th, 1858, in Albenning, Illinois, and passed away at his home near Peru, August 9th, 1927. He was married to Mary Evans, February 2nd, 1888. To this union were born seven children, Ersie of Pomeroy, Millie, who passed away in infancy, Guy of Pomeroy, Fenner of Peru, Velma of Creston, Gertrude of Osceola, and Edna at home.

He was quiet and retiring, kind and thoughtful, giving his best always to home and family.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and children, fourteen grandchildren, one brother, Chester, of Missouri, one sister, Mrs. Edna Young, of Winterset, and a host of relatives and friends.

Rev. R. J. Cook assisted by Rev. C. N. Cottingham conducted the funeral services Thursday afternoon, August 11th, in the Peru M.E. church, and the interment was in the Peru cemetery.
