Final Rites for Dick Dooley

Burial Was in California

Dick Dooley, youngest son of John and America Dooley, was born in Madison County, December 27, 1871 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Asche, 222 So. 7th St., Fort Dodge, Iowa August 11, 1944 at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 14 days. He accepted Christ as his Saviour during his youth, and his faith sustained him to the end.

He was united in marriage with Angie Reed February 28, 1894 and started farming on the Dooley farm west of Winterset. Their first child, a son was born there. Later they moved north of Dexter where their three other children, two sons and a daughter were born.

In 1910 they moved to the farm south of Dexter where they resided until 1939 when Mrs. Dooley’s health failed. They moved to Hollywood, California where two of their sons were living. Mrs. Dooley passed away February 9, 1940. Mr. Dooley returned to Ft. Dodge and has made his home with his daughter since that time. He had been in failing health since returning from California early in May this year.

He is survived by his four children, Fred R. Dooley, Adel, Iowa, Paul J. Dooley, 5903 Carlton Way, Hollywood, California, Mrs. Fred L. Asche Fort Dodge, Iowa, George W. Dooley 321 Glendale Ave., Oakland, Calif; also four grandchildren, Robert and Jack Dooley, Susan Dooley, Letitia Angeline Asche and a sister, Mrs. Dollie Yaple, Minneapolis, Minn., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held August 12, 1944 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilder Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa conducted by Rev. Biddle.

The oldest son, Fred, accompanied the body to Pasadena, Calif., where memorial services were held August 16, 1944 at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Dr. C. Kleihover. Interment was beside his wife at Mountain View Cemetery in Pasadena, California.
