Funeral services were held in Zion Lutheran church for Mrs. Richard Clausen on Wednesday, September 12, with Rev. A. C. Weber officiating. Carl Jensen, James Graham, Fremont Hadley, Justin Blomquist, Leonard Nelson and Harold Benz were the casket bearers. The church quartet sang appropriate funeral hymns. Roy Evans was the funeral director. Her body was laid to rest in the Dexter cemetery.

Mrs. Richard Clausen was born on a farm near Winterset on January 17, 1904. Her maiden name was Ruby Alice Roberts. She was the daughter of Josiah and Mattie Roberts.

In the year 1909 the Roberts family moved to a farm near Dexter, where Ruby grew to womanhood. After her graduation from the rural school, she attended Dexter high school, where she took a normal training course, offered at that time by many high schools. This training she used as a teacher in the rural schools of Adair and Guthrie counties.

In her youth she attended Sunday school and church with her parents in the Methodist church at Dexter where she was baptized at an early age. In June 1924, she became a member of Zion Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation, where she remained a loyal, faithful and devoted member until her death. She served the Ladies Aid as president for a number of years and was active in the work of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

On September 10, 1924, she was united in marriage with Richard Clausen. This happy union was blessed with four children: Joe Howard, who died in infancy, Walter Benjamin, James Norman and Zelda Mae.

On September 10, the 32nd anniversary of her marriage, God called her to her eternal home at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 24 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, in addition to her devoted husband and children, a daughter-in-law, Mollie Clausen; a granddaughter Diane; a grandson Benny, Jr., whose birth only a few days before her death brought joy to her heart; two sisters, Mrs. David Wright of Adel and Mrs. Mabel Keeler of Des Moines; two brothers, Walter Roberts of Dexter and Norman Roberts of Boone, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.
