Thomas Duff, living south of Earlham with a daughter, Mrs. Taylor, dropped dead Sunday as he crossed a room. He had not been well for some time but ws able to be up and his condition had at no time been considered serious. Funeral services were held Tuesday.

Mr. Duff was the son of Uncle David Duff, an auctioneer who came to Madison county from Ohio in 1864, one of the most popular men in the county who hade a host of friends during his lifetime. Mr. Duff, who was about seventy year old came to the county with his father. Abner Duff is a cousin.

Thomas Duff, a resident of this community for nearly seventy years, passed suddenly away at the home of his daughter, Sunday the 27th, 1925, at the age of seventy years.

Mr. Duff was born in Cambridge, Ohio, in 1855, the son of Hannah and David Duff. At the age of nine years, he with his parents moved from Ohio to what is now known as the Bennett neighborhood, where he grew to manhood.

He was married Oct. 14, 1885, to Montana Bennett. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Landing Taylor, with whom he has made his home the last eighteen years.

He is survived by his daughter, Stella, and a sister Mrs. Kathryn Barlinger of Salem, Oregon, and a host of friends. One brother, W. M. Duff, and one sister, Sara Ann Frestar preceded him in death. The sympathy of the whole community is being extended to the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased, the O. L. Taylor residence south of Earlham on Tuesday morning, Rev. W. P. Fink officiating. Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery.
