Death of Mrs. Floyd Hamilton

Mrs. Floyd Hamilton who was born and raised in Winterset, died Wednesday morning at one o’clock at Broadlawns hospital in Des Moines. Mrs. Hamilton, who was formerly Ethyl Scott, daughter of W. R. Scott, has been ill with tuberculosis for the last year and a half. She had been at the Broadlawns hospital for a couple of months, but medical aid did not greatly benefit her and she gradually grew worse.

She is survived by her husband, one son, five years old, her father, a brother Clarence and a sister, Grace. A daughter died three years ago.

Mrs. Hamilton attended the public schools here and was in the class of 1919.

Funeral services are being held at Tidrick’s funeral home this afternoon, Rev. F. Clare McCallon of the Church of Christ being in charge.

Ethyl Scott Hamilton was born April 16, 1901 in Winterset, Iowa, and died January 27, 1926, at the Broadlawns Sanitarium in Des Moines at the age of 24 years, 9 months and 11 days. Her entire life with the exception of the last six years was spent in Winterset. In 1914 she joined the Winterset Church of Christ and later attended the Grant Park Church of Christ in Des Moines.

In April 1919 she was united in marriage to F. H. Hamilton of Winterset. Two children were born to this union, Dorothy Mae, preceding her mother in death and Harry left in the home.

In June she was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, August 9th moved to Broadlawns and the best of medical skill and loving care given her but God in His wisdom saw best to take her so early from life and transplant her frail body in eternal bliss.

She is survived by her husband and son, Harry of Des Moines, her father W. R. Scott, sister, Grace and brother, Clarence all of Winterset. Funeral services conducted by Rev. F. Clare McCallon from Tidrick funeral home.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
