Pg 4Mary Elizabeth Hillman was born in Danville, Des Moines county, Iowa, November 10th, 1844.
She removed with her parents to Danville Center when a small child and lived there until grown to womanhood. She then removed to Salem, Henry county, and lived there three years. In 1869, she moved to Peru, Madison county, and taught school at that place in 1869 and 1870.
In 1870, she was married to S. N. Travis and to this union were born, Mrs. Claude Lorimor, now living in Colorado, Elbert Hillman who died in October, 1892; Cora Inez Dowler, Martin Beatty and Edmund Lisle.
She departed this life at her home near Peru, February 28th, 1927, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 18 days.
