Elizabeth Ann Barnett, daughter of Alfred and Priscilla Barnett, was born in Hendrix county, Indiana, December 17th, 1852, and departed this life March 4th, 1927.

She moved to Iowa with her parents when in her teens, living mostly in Adair and Madison counties. She was married to Willard C. Hoadley, December 20th, 1883, who preceded her to the great beyond August 12th, 1895. To this union four children were born: Vernon Clyde, who preceded her in death eight years ago; Anna G. Taylor, Effie M. England, and John E. Hoadley, all of Earlham.

When left by herself to care for her small children she did all in her power to make and keep a happy home for them. Her main thought was her children. She was a kind and loving mother and a good neighbor. She had been in poor health for several years and in her last sickness she said, “If it is God’s will I am ready to go.”

She became a member of the Early Chapel church in December, 1904, and was baptized.

She is also survived by six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Weaver, of Greenfield, Mrs. Alice E. McDaniels of Redlands, California; two brothers, Marion L. Barnett of Kansas City, Missouri, and Charles Edgar Barnett of Terra Bella, California, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Earlham Sunday, March 6th, at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. Freeman, pastor of Early Chapel church.
