Winterset Madisonian – December 9, 1926
Pg 9Mary Alice Golden, second daughter of Abram and Jane Golden, was born in Dallas county, Iowa, August 7th, 1857, and passed away November 17th, 1926, aged 69 years, 3 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to Enoch Jennings, January 30th, 1877, and had she lived until the coming January 30th they would have rounded out fifty years of wedded life. To this union were born six children, one of whom left them in infancy. She was surrounded by the remaining five until the last: Mrs. Clara Roseman, Roy W., Lulu, Mrs. Mae Repass, and Golden.
She united with the Methodist church when a child and later she, with her husband, transferred her membership to the Friends’ church, retaining her connection there to the last, but active in the Pleasant Grove Methodist church of Madison county during the 28 years they lived in that community.
Since moving to the present home she has been much of the time unable for active church work. Practically her whole life has been spent in this locality, and she numbered her friends by her acquaintances, for to know her was to love her.
Besides her immediate family, she leaves eleven grandchildren, three sisters and one brother, and a number of more distant relatives who rejoice that they had the long number of years to enjoy her companionship.
Note: Burial was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
