J. W. Longshore, Despondent Over Ill Health, Shoots Himself
J. W. Longshore, a long time resident of Walnut township, committed suicide last Saturday morning by shooting himself with a .22 caliber rifle.
He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Gardner, who lives about one mile east of Barney. When Mr. and Mrs. Gardner went to Barney Saturday morning, he went out to an empty corn crib and ended his own life.
Mr. Longshore, who was 68 years old, had been in poor health and it is thought that this was the cause of his despondency.
W. W. Cassiday was called as acting coroner, but decided that the evidence did not warrant the summoning of a jury.
