LEAH ALLISON, Winterset

Lelah Allison, 95, of Winterset died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Country Haven Guest House, Ltd in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Rev. Sue Blader and Rev. Kevin Blader officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Lelah was born on May 19, 1915, at Adair, Iowa, to Frank and Grace (Giles) Douglas. She was married in 1931 to Robert Ray Allison. She lived in Madison County since 1945, having come from Mt. Etna and prior to that, Adair County. Lelah had been a homemaker and a pastry baker having worked for the former Good Bakery in Winterset from 1945 to 1963 and then the Dahl’s Food Store in Des Moines from 1963 to 1981. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Crown Rebekah Lodge in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allison; sons, Kenneth and Keith; brother, Kenneth Douglas; and sisters, Marjorie Stephey and Minnie Douglas.

She is survived by her sons, Duane Allison of Iowa City and Bernie Allison of Kellogg; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCallley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset
