RAYMOND L. BROCK, New York

Raymond L. Brock, 88, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at The Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Pawling, NY.

A private memorial service and interment in the family plot will take place at Rock City Cemetery, Winterset at a later date.

Ray was born in Winterset on Aug. 20, 1922, the son of Raymond O. and Doris (nee Silliman) Brock. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in engineering. He served from 1943 until 1946 as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 23rd Weather Squadron at McClellan Field, Calif., as a meteorologist. He was employed by the Richardson Company, with management positions in Illinois, Connecticut and Fishkill, NY. He retired as Director of Marketing and Sales in 1984. He was an avid singer and board member of The Newyorkers – Poughkeepsie’s chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Poughkeepsie, and was active in church affairs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nadine (nee Anderson) Brock. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary B. Moore, formerly of Overland Park, Kan.

He is survived by two sons – Raymond Brock, Jr., of East Lansing, Mich., and Stephen Brock of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parmele-Auchmoody Funeral Home Poughkeepsie, NY.

RAYMOND BROCK (2011)

Raymond L. Brock, 88, of Poughkeepsie, New York, born and raised in Winterset, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at The Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Pawling, New York.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at the Winterset Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8142 and the American Legion Post #184 of Winterset.

Ray was born in Winterset, Iowa, on Aug 20, 1922, son of Raymond O and Doris (Silliman) Brock.

He is survived by two sons, Raymond Brock, Jr. of East Lansing, Mich., and Stephen Brock of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nadine (Anderson) Brock.
