Ephriam Imes, son of William and Barbara Imes, was born Aug. 28, 1848 and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wash Grimes, near East Peru, Iowa, Nov. 11, 1915, aged 67 years, 2 months and 13 days.
He was united in marriage to Melissa Jane Dowler, March 24, 1878, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dowler near St. Charles. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Minta Finck, Dollie and Carl Imes, all of Kansas City, Kansas. They lived in Madison county until 1896, when they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where they have since made their home.
He was taken down with pneumonia last March and was very low for several months, but regained his health and for a short time he seemed to improve, but soon took a relapse and has been a great sufferer for many weeks. He was converted many years ago and often expressed his faith in God during his long illness. He bore his suffering patiently and often spoke of his desire to go and be at rest.
He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, three children, six grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters. He has been cared for very tenderly by his wife at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wash Grimes and all that loving hands could do, was done for him.
________________________Coordinator's note: The 1848 year of birth would put him in direct conflict with the birth of sister Martha who is known to have been born in March 1848. In reviewing the 1850 census, it is very likely that his year of birth is 1846. The gravestone says 1857 which is nonsense.
