Ellen Proctor Pinckney, eldest daughter of Benjamin and Lucinda Proctor, was born June 2, 1855, and died October 10, 1915, age 60 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was married to Alvin A. Pinckney, Sept. 27, 1875 and to this union were born one son, Lawrence and two daughters, Mrs. Julia Taylor of Humeston and Mrs. Rosilla Cameron of Macksburg, all of whom survive her. Besides her immediate family, she leaves to mourn her loss, an aged father, five brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren
In her young womanhood she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church of this place and was a faithful and consistent member unto death. For many years she was deaconess in the church and until failing health prevented, was ever in her place of duty. She was preceded to the better land by her husband eight years ago.
The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church of Macksburg, Tuesday, Oct. 12th at 11 a.m. By Rev. Fred E. Whitney, and the text was “For our Light afflictions, which is for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” I. Cor. 4-7-17. Interment was in the Macksburg cemetery.
