Mrs. Thomas Kirk, who has been in poor health for some time, died last Thursday, September 2nd, at her home in Peru. Mr. Kirk had preceded his wife in death by five weeks.
Mrs. Kirk came to Madison county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Stevens, when a small child and she has since resided in this county. She was married to Mr. Kirk April 11th, 1869.
She is survived by two children, W. R. Kirk of Winterset, and Mrs. Luella Delaplain of East Peru.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday morning by Rev. Frederick Cooper and Rev. C. L. Thomas. More details of her life may be found in the mortuary Column.

Page 3Anna Stevens, daughter of Thomas L. and Emily Stevens, was born in Henry county, Iowa, September 27th, 1844, and died at her home in East Peru September 2nd, 1926.
She came to Madison county with her parents when a small child, where she grew to womanhood, and has ever since resided. She was married to Thomas J. Kirk April 11th, 1869. To this union were born four children: Luella F., Walter A., W. R. and Nellie A. Walter and Nellie died several years ago.
She was converted and joined the Christian church at Old Peru almost 50 years ago and has lived trusting her Savior. She had been in very poor health for a number of years and an invalid for several months. Ever since the death of her husband, who preceded her in death only about five weeks ago, she has been very lonely.
She leaves to mourn, two children, Mrs. Luella Delaplain of East Peru and W. R. Kirk of Winterset; two grandchildren, Vava Cosand and Edna Kirk; two great grandchildren Marion and Dale Cosand; one brother, Matt Stevens of Colomo, South Dakota; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held in the home Saturday morning, September 4th, conducted by Rev. Fredrick Cooper, assisted by Rev. C. L. Thomas, and interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
