Loraine Neff, only child of Neil and Sarah Neff, entered this life February 4, 1911, near Akron, Colo. At the age of 6 months, she suffered the loss of her father, and was left to the care and guidance of a loving, devoted christian mother who deemed no sacrifice too great, if it would bring either comfort or happiness to her darling child.
In the autumn of 1914 Loraine and her mother moved from Akron, Colo, to Rockville, Mo. With her grandparents, with whom they had made their home the past 4 years.
How true it is that death loves a shining mark; after an illness of less than three weeks of Tubercular Meningitis, little Loraine passed away at the age of 4 years, 6 months and 4 days. To the loving care of one who so loved little children that he said “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.”
She leaves her mother in grief and loneliness: Her grandparents who loved her as their own, and many relatives who loved this dear little child devotedly.
Funeral services were held at the Penn Center church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. August 12, 1915, conducted by Rev. Clarence Eppard. The songs were rendered by a quartette of voices. The church and grave were made beautiful, by loving hands. Beautiful flowers – God's messengers were every.
The little form was laid beside that of her father, at Penn Center cemetery, who passed away four years ago this month.
