Anna Bartrug was born in Wetzel county, West Virginia, May 13, 1881 and died at a hospital in Des Moines, Aug. 25, 1915, aged 34 years, 3 months and 13 days.
She came with her parents to Iowa in the fall of 1885 and settled on a farm near Elm Grove church, of which she was once a ember. About three years ago she moved, with her father, to Des Moines.
She has been in failing health for about five years and the past two years, she has been confined to her bed at the hospital. Her remains were brought to St. Charles last Saturday.
Funeral services were held in the M. E church, conducted by Rev. Piper and her body was laid to rest by the side of her mother in the St. Charles cemetery.
She leaves a father, five brothers and three sisters: Hal Bartrug of St. Louis; Carey of Van Cleve, Iowa; Mrs. Eliza Ford of Skidmore, Mo.; and Mrs. A. C. Swanson and husband of Webster City, who were able to be present at the funeral. The other relatives are John of British Columbia; Jeff of Moundsville, West Virginia; Jim of Broncho, N.D. And Mrs. Fred Kirk of Kirby, Montana.
