She was the daughter of Samuel and Eliza Scott. Her mother died when she was six years of age. On September 11, 1867 she was married to A. H. Shambaugh of Jewett, Ohio. March 23, 1867 they came to the present farm, where they have since lived.

Nine children were born to this union: Lida S. Brooker, of Earlham, Ia.; Louie Jones of Philomath, Ore.; Rena who died at the age of 23 years; William Edwin, of Booneville, Ia.; Orin Charles of Booneville; Mary, who died at the age of three years; Lois Trussell, of Houston, Tex.; Scott Shambaugh, of Houston, Tex.; Lloyd Shambaugh, of Booneville.

At the age of 16, Mrs. Shambaugh was converted and joined the Methodist church. After her marriage their membership was changed to the United Brethern church. Their married life has covered a period of 52 years and 8 months. 48 years of which were spent in their present home.

The funeral services were held at Union Chapel United Brethern church, of which she was a member for more than 40 years. The Pastor, E. R. Baber, had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. J. H.
