Winterset Madisonian – September 3, 1925
Pg 2Grace May Bradshaw, daughter of John Wesley and Lourinda Bradshaw, was born at Truro, Iowa, July 1, 1899 and departed this life Aug. 28, 1925 at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, aged 36 years, 1 month and 27 days.
On Dec. 25, 1907 she was married to A. V. Jones. To this union there were born two sons, Carl W. and Claude T. Jones. On Oct. 6, 1918, she was called upon to mourn the death of her husband, A. V. Jones, and again Nov. 6, 1919 the death of her son, Carl W. On Nov. 17, 1921, she was united in marriage to Rev. R. L. Raybourn, who was at that time pastor of the Christian church at Truro. Here she labored with him as pastor’s wife for more than three years, being beloved by all who knew her. In the fall of 1924, Rev. and Mrs. Raybourn went to serve the Christian church at Clemons, where the pastor and his quiet helpful wife made many devoted friends, and where they lived at the time of her death.
Mrs. Raybourn spent her childhood days and the greater part of her womanhood at Truro. Early in life, she gave her heart to the Lord and united with the church. She was always interested in the church and all the best institutions of her community. She was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and the Rebekah lodge. In all those associations, Mrs. Raybourn in her quiet and witsome way made many friends. Those who remain to mourn her departure are her husband and their little daughter, Wilma Maye, her son, Claude T., her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. Bradshaw and her brother, A. B. Bradshaw, whose address is unknown, besides a host of friends and neighbors.
Note: Burial was made in the Young cemetery.
