Pg 7

Mary Jane, daughter of Reuben and Barbara Foster, was born Aug. 4, 1854 in Eddyville, Mahaska county, Iowa, and died at her home in Truro Aug. 29, 1925, aged 71 years and 25 days.

When a small child, her parents moved from Eddyville to Madison county, where she has resided continuously ever since. Oct. 16, 1876 she was united in marriage to Albert B. Johnson of Croton, Iowa, and together they set up a new home on the farm two miles north and east of Truro, where they lived and toiled together for over 47 years. Three years ago they built a new home in Truro and retired from the active duties of the farm.

When a young woman, she united with the Christian church, but after her marriage transferred her membership to the Ohio Baptist church. She was always faithful to the church of her choice an earnest Bible student was especially interested in the work of foreign missons and an active member of the W.C.T.U. She lived a quiet life, devoted to her home and her husband; was a great lover of nature, flowers, good literature and all. On March 12, 1925, while in her ordinary health, she suffered a double stroke of apoplexy and paralysis. After a time, she recovered sufficiently to recognize her friends, but was never able to speak to them. A good woman has gone to her reward, but her quiet, gentle influence will live on in the hearts of her friends.

Note: Burial was made in the Young cemetery.
