Page 3Anna Eliza Schrivner, daughter of Melvina Tribble and Joseph Schrivner, was born in Metcalf county, Kentucky, December 24, 1858. When but a small child she moved with her parents to Madison county, where she grew to maturity.
She married William Henry Kegley on March 14, 1878 in Winterset and a few days later the young couple went to LeSaeur county, Minn., to establish their home. Here their two eldest children were born and in the early eighties they returned to Madison county where they continued to reside until 1910 when they went to Greene county, settling upon their farm near Bagley. Early in March 1919, they moved to Jefferson where she resided until her death.
In early girlhood she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church and has ever been loyal to the church of her choice. She was a home loving woman, quiet and inoffensive, always doing her best and what she thought was right.
She reared ten children to maturity, serving them tenderly and faithfully. Besides her husband and ten children, she leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, Chris Schrivner of Patterson, Iowa and Will Schrivner of Missouri. One son, William preceeded his mother in death, dying at the age of fourteen on November 24, 1897. The children who sorrow so greatly today because of the death of the good mother are: Mrs. Fanny Sandy of Winterset; Lawson Kegley of Jefferson; Charles of Des Moines; Arthur of Chicago; Walter of Des Moines; Roy of Boone; Mrs. Ethel Cardines of Des Moines and Lloyd of Jefferson. Nine grandchildren: Ralph, Opal, Zela, Russell and Charlette Sandy; Ernest, Douglas, Violet, Elaine and LaVaun Kegley, besides countless other friends and relatives feel keen sorrow that she has passed “Beyond the River.” The six sons above mentioned acted as pallbearers.
