JAMES CARL BUCHANAN

James Carl Buchanan, son of George A. and Mary E. Buchanan, was born in Madison county, Iowa, on April 5,1890. He died in Oklahoma two days before his twenty-fifth birthday, on Saturday, April 3, 1915.

A severe attack of typhoid fever a few years ago left him in a weakened condition and during the past winter his lungs troubled him. A few weeks ago he went to Oklahoma in the hope that the change of climate would be beneficial but he was stricken with pneumonia March 28 and passed away the morning of April 3, shortly after his father and sister reached his bedside.

He had lived a good life, finished his course and kept the faith. On Sunday, March 4, 1909, he publically confessed Christ as his Savior by uniting with the Presbyterian church. He had always been a consistent Christian growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in his daily life. He was always thoughtful of others and eager to help. A loving son and affectionate brother, sincere friend and beloved by all who knew him, staunch and true, faithful unto death, patient in suffering, when God called him he was ready to go.

He leaves to mourn his loss father, mother and four sisters and three brothers: Mrs. L. W. Smiley, of Massena, Iowa; Mrs. W. E. Hall of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Ray Grout, of Winterset, and Bessie, Otis, Glen and Floyd, of Pomeroy, Iowa.
