HENRY HARRIS

Henry Harris, for many years a prominent citizen of this place died Monday at his home in Des Moines at the age of eighty-eight. He was born in Mass. in 1827, and came to Winterset in 1865, and located on the beautiful farm, still owned at the time of his death, and located just northwest of the city limits.

Mrs. Harris and two daughters preceded him in death. One daughter, Miss Flora Harris is professor of Greek at the Baptist college in Des Moines.

The body was brought here this morning and burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Henry Harris, one, of the oldest residents of Madison county, died at the home of his daughter, Prof. Flora Harris, Monday in Des Moines. Mr. Harris was 88 years old.

Coming here in 1865 from Massachusetts, he bought the Todd farm at the city limits and lived there until a few years ago when he went to Des Moines to live with his daughter who was professor of Greek in Des Moines college.

The funeral was held in Des Moines and interment was in the Winterset cemetery. Miss Harris is the sole survivor of the family.
