Page 1Mrs. Helen Wilkinson, wife of the late Judge A. W. Wilkinson, passed away at her home on West Court avenue on last Wednesday at the age of 77. She was born at Hamilton, Ohio, in 1848 and when but a small child came to Iowa with her parents. She was one of the early day school teachers of this county.
In 1871 she was married to A. W. Wilkinson, who preceded her in death of February 20th, this year.
Mrs. Wilkinson’s life was outstanding as one devoted in unselfish service to her family and to her friends.
Among her splendid traits of character was her love for children and there are scores of young people of this community who will long cherish the memory of her kindly ministrations and her sympathetic interest in their welfare.
Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Wm. N. Wyckoff of Des Moines.

Mrs. A.W. Wilkinson Answers Last Summons -- Came To Madison County In The Early Fifties -- Had Been In Feeble Health Several Years.
Helen Davis Wilkinson was one of the well known women of Madison county. Sh was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, her mother dying at her birth. Mrs. Wilkinson came with her father to Iowa in the early fifties, living near Burlington for a number of years. Later she came to Madison county and made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Baker, near Peru.
The death of Mrs. A.W. Wilkinson, wife of Judge Wilkinson, occurred on Wednesday afternoon, May 6th, at the home on west Court Avenue. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Saturday morning with Father Wykoff, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church of Des Moines in charge.
Mrs. Wilkinson received her education in the Winterset schools and after her marriage to Judge Wilkinson made her home here. Six children were born to them, Miss Lina, who lives here; Mrs. Maude Parker, of Washington, D.C; Phil R., of Winteset, and J. Neil, of Des Moines. A daughter, Mrs. Ruth Buffington died a number of years ago. Judge Wilkinson preceded his wife, his death occurring on February 20th.
Mrs. Wilkinson several years ago suffered a paralytic stroke which affected her throat. She had been in feeble health since that time. She was ill at the time of the Judge's death and although later she seemed to rally she was stricken with another stoke about a week preceding her death from which physicians held little hope for her recovery and which proved fatal.
She was for many years a prominent member of the Winterset chapter Eastern Star and of the Women's club and other organizations. She had always taken a prominent part in the work of her church in Winterset.
