Death of Mrs. S. J. Donaldson

Mrs. Sarah Jane Donaldson, a long time resident of Madison County, died Sunday, November 13, at the home of her son, H. A. Donaldson in the Pitzer neighborhood. Mrs. Donaldson was born 86 years ago, February 27, 1841, in Pennsylvania.

She grew to womanhood in her native state, removing to Illinois with her husband, William Holliday Donaldson, where they resided for ten years. Later they moved to Madison county, where the deceased had since resided.

Mr. Donaldson passed away July 2, 1882. Also four sons and one daughter have preceded her in death. Surviving members of the family are two daughters, Mrs. Minnie McGee, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; Mrs. Blanch Wight of this county; also two sons, H. A. and Ralph, both residing here.

Mrs. Donaldson was deprived of her helpmate early in life, but with a devotion and courage inspired by a mother's love kept her home circle and reared a large family. After her children were all grown, she moved to Winterset, where she made her home until recently.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. P. Kiest, were held at Tidricks's Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon and burial at the Roberts Cemetery near Webster.
