George William Raitt was born in Page City, Page county, Iowa, Dec. 5, 1871 and passed away at his home in Winterset, May 5, 1925, aged 54 years and 5 months, he being the oldest living of a family of five children. The oldest, a sister, died at the age of 15 years. Both his father and mother have preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers, Samuel T. of Winterset and John G. of Adel and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Palmer; besides several nephews and nieces, and a host of friends.

He united with the United Presbyterian church at Patterson at the age of 15 years, and although deprived of his hearing had not attended services regularly, but often spoke of the faith he felt for his Redeemer. George was kind and affectionate, always ready and willing to render assistance to the worthy and needy. Especially will he be missed by those who were closely connected with him.

Funeral services were held from the United Presbyterian church on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. Z. Allen, and burial was in Montpelier cemetery.
