Earl Charles Black, son of Charles and Mabel Black, was born near Winterset, April 14, 1924 and departed from this life Jan. 6, 1925, aged eight and one-half months. The cause of his death was intestinal influenza and bronchial trouble. He was taken sick while at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Chase. The progress of the disease was so rapid that he could not be taken home.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his father and mother, two sisters, Roberta and Lola; four grandparents, his great grandmother, Mrs. Anna Applegate and a large circle of relatives and friends.

He was a constant, but patient sufferer from the time the disease attacked him. All that could be done was done for him, but to no avail. He was a dear and lovable child and has passed on to a better home. He beckons us on to that better home where parting will be no more.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Winterset by Rev. L. M. Kirby of West Star church, assisted by Rev. M. Hulbert of Worthington church. The body was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
