Page 2Florence Bellows Stark was born in Delaware county, Iowa, Jan. 20, 1866 and died at her home in Winterset, Oct. 11, 1924. About the year 1868 she came to Madison county with her parents, who located on a farm in Penn township. In the fall of 1883 the family moved to Winterset.
On Sept. 17, 1889 she was married to Samuel I. Sprinkle, who departed this life in the summer of 1896. There was born to this union one son, Lloyd H. Sprinkle. On June 19, 1898 she was united in marriage to S. W. Stark and to this union was born one son, Robert W. Stark.
She leaves to mourn her death, the husband, the two sons, her invalid mother, Mrs. S. E. Bellows; two sisters, Mrs. Adda Blimka and Mrs. Olive Sprinkle and one brother, Don C. Bellows of Mason City.
Early in the spring of 1922, her health began to fail and in August of that year she was stricken with a complete nervous collapse since which time she has been confined to her bed. In spite of medical skill, and the unceasing efforts of her loved ones, her malady stubbornly refused to yield, and early in the morning of Oct. 11th, she peacefully passed over to that land of an unclouded sky, where sorrow, pain and suffering are unknown.
The deceased has left a rich legacy, in that her entire life has been spent, not in the accumulation of wealth, but in a self-sacrificing love and devotion to her friends and loved ones. She was converted in early childhood and united with the Methodist church at Penn Center, transferring her membership to the Winterset M. E. church at the time of moving here and after her first marriage, she transferred her membership to the Highland Park M. E. church, Des Moines; later transferring again to Winterset and was a member up to the date of her death. She was active in church work until she assumed her household duties, and then her field of spiritual activities was in the home, and her work along this line was well and faithfully done. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors and the Rebekahs.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Monday afternoon by Rev. D. J. Shenton.
