G. J. Breeding, known as Jeff Breeding to his old friends here, died suddenly in Des Moines on Wednesday afternoon, April 2. He was stricken with acute indigestion of Saturday, which culminated in influenza.

Mr. Breeding, a son of the late Joseph Breeding of Scott township, lived in Scott until he removed to Des Moines in 1895. He was one of the oldest men in point of service and would have been retired on May 22, after twenty-two years service on the Des Moines police force. He began as mounted patrolman, then was advanced to roundsman, sergeant and captain. His wife, a son Harry and a daughter, Mrs. Nora Wooten, all of Des Moines, survive. The other remaining member of the Joseph Breeding family is Mrs. Andrew McLees.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Miller United Brethren church, interment being at Patterson.
