Following several weeks of illness, Mrs. Lillian Young Rippey died at the Ravenswood hospital in Chicago on March 30th. Mrs. Rippey lived in Winterset from childhood, graduating from the Winterset high school. After her marriage to Arthur G. Rippey, her home was in Des Moines until four years ago, when she made her residence in Chicago with a brother. A son, Arthur, survives his mother, also a sister, Miss Lucy Young of Chicago, and two brothers.

The remains arrived here Tuesday evening, and funeral services were held at the Myles Young home on Wednesday morning, with Dr. LeRoy C. Cooley in charge.

Mrs. Rippey was of a bright, animated nature; she entered heartily into affairs and possessed a large number of old and warm friends in Winterset, who regret per passing.

Lillian Grace Young was born on March 25, 1878, in Peru, Ill. She came to Winterset at the age of seven with her parents, Myles and Gertrude Young. She was a communicant of the Episcopal church, having been baptized and confirmed in Trinity Chapel, Winterset, later identifying herself with St. Luke’s church at Des Moines. She was educated in the Winterset schools and grew to young womanhood here.

On Aug. 27, 1902, she was married to Arthur G. Rippey, in Winterset, afterwards moving to Des Moines, where she made her home until the past four years, when she became a resident of Chicago, Ill. After a brief illness, she passed on in the Ravenswood hospital, Chicago, on the 30th day of March, 1924. She is survived by one son, Arthur G. Rippey, Jr.; her brothers, Fred E. Young of Chicago and Myles Young, Jr., of Winterset, and one sister, Lucy Gertrude Young of Chicago.

Funeral services were held in Chicago on Monday, then in Winterset on Wednesday, April 2, at the home of Myles Young, Jr., Dr. LeRoy C. Cooley of the First Presbyterian church, conducting. Burial was made in Rock City cemetery.
