Pg 1Death of Mrs. John Drake
On Sunday, February 23, Mrs. John Drake of Earlham, died in Pasadena, Calif., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Hays.
Mr. and Mrs. Drake accompanied the Hays family to California last fall, hoping thereby to benefit Mrs. Drake, who had been suffering from an organic stomach ailment. She improved for a while, until influenza attacked her recently and death resulted. Mr. Drake also had influenza and the return home of the family was delayed until last Sunday on his account. The funeral party is expected to arrive in Earlham on Friday.

EarlhamThe funeral service of Mrs. John Drake occurred at the Christian church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Pringle in charge. Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery. Mrs. Drake had lived in Earlham for many years and had many friends here who will sadly miss her.
She was a member of the Christian church, ever ready and willing to do her part in any work that was presented. The Drake family went on a trip to the west in the fall on account of Mrs. Drake’s health and for a time she seemed much better, but later seemed to sink rapidly.
Her husband, John Drake, and the daughter, with her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Hays, at whose home she died in Riverside, Calif., accompanied her body to Earlham, arriving on Friday. We understand Mr. Drake will make his home in the west with his daughter.
