MRS. MARY BANKER

Mrs. Mary Banker who died at her home on east Jefferson St. Wednesday January 13th, was born near Coshocton, Ohio on the 8th of May 1837. She was one of a large number of children reared by Thomas and Catherine Baker, two brothers live near Coshocton and one sister near Marengo, Iowa.

On the 29th of March, 1855, Mary Baker was married to Lemuel Banker and moved to Illinois. In the centennial year they moved to Madison Co. Her husband died Feb. 12, 1901. After remaining on the farm for a few years Mrs. Banker came to Winterset where she passed the last seven years. Very early in life like the other Mary she chose the best and became affiliated with the Baptist church. When the family moved to Iowa she became a member of the Pitzer U. P. Congregation from where she was certified to the church in Winterset.

Three or four children miss the company of the mother, One daughter, Mrs. Mary Schoff died five years ago. Those living are, Alonzo, Jacob and Miss Florence Donaldson, all live near Pitzer.

The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Walter J. Stewart, assisted by Rev. R. L. Wilson were held at the Pitzer church, Friday, after which the body was laid in the Penn Center cemetery.
