Clyde Collins, the four year old son of Mrs. Pearl Collins, met with a very untimely death on Tuesday. He was playing in the smoke house, when he climbed up on a brace tie and stuck his head out of the window. He slipped and fell, his chin catching on the sash below and the back of his head caught on the board, where he was found dead. His father died about a year ago.
Note: Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Page 5, Column 5Daily Capital: Three year old Clyde Collins, son of Mrs. Pearl Collins, a widow residing in St. Charles, Madison county, was accidentally hanged late Tuesday when in attempting to climb through a window in a smokehouse the child upset a tub which he was using as a ladder. His body was found about a half hour later by his mother. His head was caught in a small aperture in the window which was partially enclosed by nailed boards.
The child is survived by his mother and eight brothers, and sisters, ranging in age from 2 to 10 years old. Time of the funeral has not yet been set.
