Death of W. L. Niblo

Will L. Niblo, a well known business man of this town died suddenly last Saturday afternoon about three o’clock, at his place of business on West Jefferson street. Although Mr. Niblo had not been in the best of health for the past two years, his condition did not seem to be any worse and his death came as a great shock to his relatives and many friends. He had been visiting with friends and had just finished waiting upon a customer when he was attacked with this heart trouble, which caused his almost immediate death.

Mr. Niblo was born at Cascade, Iowa, in Jones county, in 1865 and came to Madison county with his parents when ten years of age. They settled in Jackson township, in the Pitzer neighborhood.

In 1889 he was married to Anna M. Jack, who with their three sons, now survives him. About 22 years ago, Mr. Niblo came to Winterset, and had an interest in the drug store of Catterlin & Niblo. Later Mr. Catterlin sold his interest to Earl Herring. About two years ago, Mr. Niblo’s health began to fail, and they sold out. Since that time, he has had a filing station at Fenimore’s garage.

Funeral services were conducted at the United Presbyterian church, of which he was an active member on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock.

Besides his wife and three sons, he is survived by three brothers: T. G. and R. S. of Winterset and John L. of Huron, S. D.; and two sisters, Mrs. Sherman Baker of Winterset and Mrs. Charles Rumford of Ottawa, Kansas.
