Mrs. Robert Raitt died about 1:30 o’clock Thursday morning, Oct. 11th, at the hospital at Clarinda, at the age of 79 years. The health of Mrs. Raitt has been failing for several years and her condition gradually grew worse until her death.

Mrs. Raitt was born in Pennsylvania in 1844 and later moved to Clarinda. About 46 years ago the family moved to Patterson, where they were long time residents. Sixteen years ago, or in 1907, the Raitts moved to Winterset, where they have since resided.

She is survived by two sons, George W. and Samuel T. of Winterset, John G., of Adel and Mrs. Nettie Palmer of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the United Presbyterian church, with Rev. D. J. Shenton officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery northeast of Patterson. An obituary is given on another page of this paper.

Mary E. Kinnan was born in Dayton county, Pennsylvania on Feb. 28, 1844 and departed this life Oct. 11, 1923, aged 79 years and 5 months. She was united in marriage to Robert Raitt on Sept. 12, 1868, who departed this life Jan. 9, 1910. To this union were born five children all of whom were present at the funeral except the oldest daughter, Ida Bell, who died at the age of 15 years. Those surviving are George W. and Samuel T. of this place; Mrs. Nettie Palmer of Earlham and John G. of Adel; besides several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.

She united with the United Presbyterian church at the age of 16 years, being a constant and faithful member till the last. A kind and affectionate mother and friend has left a vacant place in a home, which cannot be filled.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the United Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton. Burial was in Montpelier cemetery north of Patterson.
