DONNA BASSETT, Winterset

Donna L. Bassett, 79, of Winterset, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services were held today at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Winterset Community Educational Foundation will be accepted.

Donna, the daughter of the late John and Mildred Jones Anderson, was born July 1, 1931, in Monroe County, Iowa. Growing up in southeast Iowa, she graduated from Conesville High School. She married Kenneth J. Bassett on June 1, 1952, in Knoxville, Iowa. In 1959, they moved to Winterset where Ken accepted a job working for the Winterset School District. Donna was a homemaker and beautician. She also worked part-time for Howell’s Tree Farm near Winterset.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ken of Winterset; five children: Mark (Kendra) of Altoona, Carol of Winterset, Craig of Winterset, Amy of New Ulm, Minn., and Andy (Carin) of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren: Raina, Seth, Emma, Mallory, Dustin, Rylee, Madison, Keny and Andrew; and two siblings: James Anderson of Muscatine and Wanda Terry of Bartlesville, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Arno; and siblings: Richard Anderson and Elaine Lewis.
