Margaret attended the Winterset school system and graduated from Winterset High School in 1934. She then attended A.I.B. in Des Moines.

On February 9, 1937, Margaret married Martin Roach, Jr. at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Catholic Church. To this union were born three children, Margaret (Peggy) Martina Roach, Martin Michael Roach and William Joseph Roach. Margaret was a farm homemaker and a mother. She enjoyed the outdoors, driving tractors and helping with outside farm work. Due to Martins’ failing health, they moved to Winterset in 1960. Margaret was then employed in the law office of Jno. N. Hartley as secretary. In 1971 Martin, beloved husband and father, died.

In 1975, Margaret married George Abrahams. After his retirement, they enjoyed winters in Tucson, Ariz. Staying in an RV Park, they took part in the park activities and playing golf. George died in 1992.

During her lifetime, Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society, Thursday Guild, American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter and active member of the Lakeview Country Club. She enjoyed bowling, golf and bridge games with her women friends in later years.
