Mrs. Coleman Thorpe, an old time resident of this town, died last Friday, September 21, at the age of 80 years, at the home of Mrs. Grace Bridenstine. Although Mrs. Thorpe has not been in the best of health lately, she was only ill for three days. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania in 1843, and in 1881 was married to Coleman Thorpe, who died a number of years ago. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Thorpe did not continuously make this her home, leaving here for a year or two at a time, but she always came back, and considered Winterset as her home.

Mrs. Coleman Thorpe

Elizabeth Page Williams was born in Pennsylvania, January 5, 1841, and died in Winterset, Iowa, September 21, 1923, having reached the age of 82 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Coleman Thorpe September 19, 1881. No children came to this home, and Mr. Thorpe having died a good many years ago, Mrs. Thorpe spent her last years somewhat in loneliness. The last of her immediate family, a brother, preceded her into the beyond by one year. She therefore leaves behind only the more distant relatives, with the friends and neighbors, will cherish her memory as well as miss her presence.

Mrs. Thorpe became a member of the Presbyterian church several years ago, and continued in that fellowship to the end.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ by E. B. Chancellor, on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
